APEC Ocean and Fisheries Working Group

Establishment

  • The US proposed integration of the Fisheries Working Group and the Ocean Conservation Working Group for efficient operation and effective discussions (June 2010, Peru)
  • Merger and integrated operation was decided at the 10th APEC Meeting 해양-수산 공동 회의 (June 2011, Indonesia)

APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting

  • The 1st APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting: Seoul Oceans Declaration (2002, Seoul)
    • Discussion on the issues of marine resource management and improvement of management and control methods
    • Improvement of post-fishing processes such as fisheries product quality and safety control
    • Projects for promoting free trade and investment
  • The 2nd APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting: Bali Plan of Action (2005, Bali)
    • Sustainable management of marine environment and resources
    • Continuous creation of economic benefits from the oceans
  • The 3rd APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting Paracas Declaration (2010, Paracas)
    • Sustainable fishing industry management for food security
    • Emphasis on cooperation for mitigation of excess fishing, illegal fishing and pirate activities
